Gretna Green the famous Scottish border town and it's neighbour Gretna. I have had the opportunity to visit Gretna Green, I suggest that a short while in the adjacent Gallery will prove fruitful if you are thinking of going North for your big day. Gretna Hall, a mile inside the Scottish border, is only one of many venues in Scotland, built in 1710, and set in 12 acres of landscaped gardens the photo opportunities are Excellent. The Hall is a superb venue for the incurable romantic, the staff are friendly and helpful. Please forget any pre-conceived ideas about tearaway marriages, Gretna has moved with the times, although the Law still remains basically the same. You can build your plans around your own ideas, even to the extend of taking your own Vicar with you to perform the Ceremony over the Anvil. Civil ceremonies and even renewal of vows are undertaken. The Hall has several different wedding rooms depending on your wishes and size of your party. Reception and accommodation can be found at the Hotel. Scottish Law differs from English, inasmuch as permission can be sought to hold a Wedding at any suitable location you choose, Mansion, Castle, Country House, Hotel, etc. Problem, the State requires an application fee of £ 425.00 for the privilege.
